Chief Executive To Step Down From Role

CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO STEP DOWN FROM ROLE

The Trustees of Hineuru Iwi Trust advise that April Hetaraka, Chief Executive, has tendered her resignation, which has been accepted. Her final day in the role will be Friday, 27 June 2025.

Since stepping into the role of Chief Executive in November 2023, April has provided strategic leadership during a pivotal phase of organisational evolution. Her focus on enhancing internal systems and functions has strengthened the Trust’s operational capability while advancing kaupapa-driven initiatives that empower whānau and uplift communities. This period of intentional development has not only positioned the Trust for sustained impact but also laid the groundwork for achieving long-term, aspirational outcomes that reflect our vision for transformative change for the benefit of iwi members.

Commenting on her departure, April said:

“It is with humility I wish Hineuru Iwi Trust all the best for its future endeavours. Ki a koutou ngā whānau whānui o Hineuru, tēnei au e mihi ana i runga i te whakaiti.”

Chairman Mana Hazel, acknowledging April’s service, said:

“E kore e mimiti ana ngā au mihi ki a koe April. Nāu anō i whakakipakipa i ngā huanga mō te iwi o Hineuru. Nāu hoki i whakapātaritari i ngā kaupapa matua mai i te iwi, mō te iwi. Nei rā ngākau whakaiti e mihi nei.”

The Trustees, on behalf of the iwi, extend their thanks to April for her service and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

The iwi will be kept informed of further developments as matters progress.

Quarterly Kaumātua Health Check-up

Quarterly Kaumātua Health Check-up

The next Quarterly Kaumātua Health Check-up is taking place in two weeks on Tuesday, 17 June, from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Hineuru Iwi Trust Office (14 West Quay, Ahuriri).

These health check-ups are part of our ongoing commitment to the well-being of our kaumātua. They were created from the aspirations shared by whānau during last year’s drop-in workshops and are delivered in partnership with Te Kupenga Hauora.

This time, Te Kupenga is also offering flu and covid vaccinations for those who may want to be vaccinated while popping in.

If you’re not a kaumātua yourself, please help us share this message with those who would benefit from attending.
