We’re Hiring: Two Exciting Roles at Hineuru Iwi Trust

1. Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā – Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Are you passionate about telling stories and connecting with people? We are seeking a talented Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā to lead and support our communications kaupapa. You will play a key role in enhancing the presence and identity of Hineuru Iwi Trust, working on digital platforms, creating engaging content, and supporting our Communications Strategy.

2. Pou Taiao Projects Assistant

Are you committed to protecting and enhancing te taiao? Join us as a Pou Taiao Projects Assistant and support kaupapa that protect and enhance our whenua and wai. This full-time, fixed-term role (until June 2026) offers the chance to contribute to iwi environmental management, gain practical experience, and work alongside dedicated people.

Hineuru Hautapu 2025

Hineuru Hautapu 2025

The Trust is pleased to release the dates for this year’s Hineuru Hautapu, which will be held at Te Hāroto Marae. Different to previous years, this year includes a wānanga leading up to the ceremony.

Dates:

  • Friday 20 June, 5 PM – Wānanga begins
  • Saturday 21 June – Wānanga continues
  • Sunday 22 June, 6 AM – Annual Hautapu


Location: Te Hāroto Marae

Friday and Saturday are dedicated to wānanga. Sunday is our annual hautapu.

Whānau are welcome to attend just the hautapu on Sunday if they are unable to join the wānanga — please indicate this in the online registration form. RSVPs are essential for catering purposes.

Kawakawa Balm Workshop

Kawakawa Balm Workshop

The Trust is excited to call for registrations for our upcoming Kawakawa Balm Workshop, a two-day, hands-on experience during which whānau will learn the process of creating Kawakawa Balm.

🗓 Dates & Times:

  • Saturday, 7 June: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Sunday, 8 June: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

📍 Location: Hineuru Iwi Trust Office 14 West Quay, Ahuriri 4110

Capacity: Limited to 30 attendees

You’ll leave the workshop with your own handmade Kawakawa balm and the knowledge to recreate it at home.

The Special General Meeting of Hineuru Iwi Trust is to be held as follows:

  • Venue:               Napier War Memorial Conference Centre
  • Start Time:       9 AM

Special General Meeting Agenda

  1. Karakia;
  2. Welcome & opening address by the Chairman;
  3. Apologies;
  4. Presentation & status report update of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan;
  5. 2026-2030 Strategic Plan Update;
  6. An update from the Hineuru Education and Training Committee on the 2025 Hineuru Education Grants; and
  7. Conclusion of meeting, followed by lunch.

There are no formal resolutions to be considered at this hui. A copy of the relevant meeting documents can be requested and sent to you, once prepared; please email info@hineuru.com.

Applications Open – Two new scholarships

Applications Open – Two new scholarships

We’re excited to announce the launch of two new scholarships to support the aspirations of our iwi members in their educational journeys:

  1. Postgraduate Scholarship
    This scholarship is available to registered iwi members pursuing postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD level) in any field.
  2. Special Educational Needs Scholarship
    This scholarship aims to support registered iwi members with special educational needs at any study level.

Both scholarships are designed to help break down barriers and create more opportunities for our people to thrive through education.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be a fully registered iwi member
  • Complete the online application form
  • You must submit a written statement explaining how the scholarship will support you in your education journey
  • Further, postgraduate applicants will need to provide a video, up to 3 minutes, of how their study could contribute to the future of Hineuru
