Sit & Be Fit 

We are excited to share with whānau ‘Sit & Be Fit’, a seated exercise programme designed specifically for older adults (60+) to help build balance, strength, and overall well-being. This programme is perfect for those looking to stay active and improve mobility in a fun, supportive environment.
We are pleased to be delivering this programme in partnership with Sport Hawke’s Bay, and it will be held on the following dates at the Hineuru Iwi Trust Office (14 West Quay, Ahuriri):

  • 13 February
  • 20 February
  • 27 February
  • 6 March
  • 13 March

Time: 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM

These sessions are free of charge and are suitable for all fitness levels. You can enjoy gentle, seated exercises that will help improve flexibility, posture, and balance.

Whether you’re new to exercise or have been active for a while, this is a great way to stay healthy and motivated. We look forward to seeing you there!

Rangatahi Day – Waipunga Adventures

Rangatahi Day – Waipunga Adventures

Back by popular demand, we are excited to invite Hineuru rangatahi (11-16 y/o) to participate in an upcoming 1-day camp at Waipunga Adventures.

This camp is run by Michaela and Jeff Baker, a daughter-father duo and descendants of the iwi. The event-packed day offers a perfect environment for outdoor, adventure-based learning. The activities planned for the day aim to challenge rangatahi, foster new connections, and help participants develop a deeper relationship with themselves, one another, and the whenua surrounding them.

Key Details:

  • Date: 1 March 2025
  • Location: Waipunga Adventures, State Highway 5, Tarawera
  • Transport: The bus will depart Tamatea PAK’nSAVE at 8 AM, returning between 5 and 6 PM

The Experience:
Throughout the day, rangatahi will engage in various activities that promote teamwork, self-discovery, and key survival skills that have supported our whānau for generations. The camp will be an opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally, while connecting with nature and culture.

Activities include:

  • Air Rifle Shooting
  • Pest Trapping
  • Poi Toa
  • Team Challenges
  • Mental and Physical Exercise
  • Raft Building (weather dependent)
  • Camp Cooking (weather dependent)
