Karauna is a Te Hāroto based Trustee. He has three children, three mokopuna and three mokomoko.

Now retired, his previous occupation and experience saw him working as a Structural Engineer.

His hobbies include repairing/renovations and passing on life skills to the next generation.

Why did you want to be a Trustee of Hineuru Iwi Trust?

Karauna became a trustee to complete the Treaty Settlement of Hineuru.

Are there any particular highlights of being a Trustee? 

A highlight for Karauna has been seeing the settlement grow to where it is today. As well as seeing the advancement of skills and knowledge within Hineuru people.

What advice would you give to those interested in becoming a trustee of Hineuru Iwi Trust?

“There will never be an end to the work for our iwi. It will take multiple generations for our people to heal. We must continue to grow stronger and stronger as an iwi.”
