Hineuru Iwi Trust
Te Kōpere o te iwi o Hineuru Trust (Te Kōpere) was established on 17th March, 2015, to act as the post-settlement governance entity for Hineuru iwi. The role of Te Kōpere is to receive, hold, and manage the Hineuru settlement redress. Te Kōpere is also the mandated entity to represent the interests of Hineuru iwi, and is committed to furthering the interests of Hineuru whānau and iwi in all aspects including social, cultural, economic and environmental aspirations.
Te Kōpere are guided by six pou that reflect the aspirations Hineuru tipuna held for their mokopuna and these pou are as follows:
- Restoration and protection of our cultural heritage and history for our future generations.
- Restoration of the health and well-being of our people.
- Recognition of the mana of Hineuru and restoration of the relativity Hineuru had with other iwi of the region.
- Reassertion of the presence of Hineuru through our rohe.
- Rebuilding an economic base for Hineuru.
- Revitilisation and Restoration of our role as kaitiaki of our resources and environment.

Traditional settlement areas include the high altitude lands located to the south of the plains, bordered by the Tītīokura and Te Waka Ranges to the east and south-east and the Kaweka Ranges to the south and south-west.
The Waipunga River Valley was the focal point of settlement, along with settlements to the south at Te Hāroto and along the Mōhaka River Valley.
The north and north-eastern expanses of the rohe are comprised of the Rangitaiki and Kaingaroa plains, traditionally seasonal mahinga kai areas. The core areas of occupation were the high altitude lands located to the south of the plains, bordered by the Tītīokura and Te Waka Ranges to the east and south-east and the Kaweka Ranges to the south and south-west.
